Smartphones Encroach on Laptop Territory
With the advent of netbooks and the increasing sophistication of smartphones cross-over of the mobile industry seems inevitable, if people expect more from technology, and demand that they use smaller and more comfortable. The second edition of the iPhone was announced as the market leader in the smartphone / computer hybrid innovation. Since then, BlackBerry has also narrowed the gap between computers and mobile phones, and regular mobile phone manufacturers that have traditionally notSmartphones have considered introducing phones with smartphone-like features. Now Nokia is taking the phenomenon a step further with a mobile phone that they are marketed as a mobile computer.
The Nokia N97 features a 3.5-inch touch screen display with incredible resolution, a QWERTY keyboard, integrated WLAN and Bluetooth on board and 32 GB flash memory with the option to add another 16 GB via microSD. But one of the coolest elements, and what is likely the most significanttheir "mobile computer" label is the fact that the screen slides and lies at an angle to the keyboard is visible, very netbook-like.
And then there is social position, the GPS receiver and compass use, to ensure that the phone always knows where it is, it, with social networking features that it, your position on certain friends and transfuse can be integrated. Larry Dignan (ZDNet believe also) and Millar both agree that we are heading towards a world, smartphones and laptops collide, and both believe that, while the Nokia N97 is an important step in this direction, we are not quite that far. Millar sticks his neck a little further than Dignan, but noting that Nokia will likely lead the way in the hybrid game, because they are the right vision of the future and the flexibility to make it work.

Dignan is the number at around 650 U.S. dollars for American consumers, who otherwise makes the N97 more expensive than your average netbook. But at least you have time to save them as multimedia computers, or "Desktop.Laptop.Pocket", such as Nokia refers to are only available early2009th
