Not really a comparison. I have both netbooks. The Acer Aspire One running Ubuntu 9.04. The Asus Eee PC running Xandros.
Before buying 20 of these I could find no clear indication on the size of the netbooks on. For comparison, an Acer Aspire One with a Dell Inspiron 8600 and an iBook G4. (sorry my voice - I have a cold)
www.netbooknews.it - The Acer TravelMate 531 is a special edition of the new netbooks from Acer's ultra-thin presents. Compared to the previous models, it shows a new design, a new battery and a lower price than the competition. This is the reason why, even though the classic hardware equipment, we succeed takes his place in an increasingly competitive business environment. The Acer Aspire One 531, although it weighs around a 10-inch PC that only 1280 kilograms. It's the Intel Atom N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB hard driveHard drive, wireless card and a PG-6-cell battery, the lot with a small weight and dimensions as 25 x 18 x 2.5 cm. On the right side we find two USB ports, microphone and headphone jack, the Ethernet port and pantograph. On the left side, however, we find two multi-format card reader, USB port and the VGA output to connect to external monitor. The screen is the glossy kind, and it may be a 1024 X 600 pixels resolution have. At the top of the screen we can o, see 3-megapixel Webcam;below, but the interior microphone. The webcam, though not so good on the issue of dissolution, makes a good brightness even in critical light conditions. The keyboard is stable and not very compliant, easy to use, even in writing quickly, to point out, the Enter and Shift keys right, because of the large dimensions. Below the keyboard there is the Bluetooth on / off switch and the wireless card. The touchpad supports multi-touch feature, and it has only one button, the sensitivity iswell and the surface is soft, almost velvety. At the bottom, allowing two doors to the RAM access when more than 2 GB and the Wi-Fi card to access but not on the hard drive. Acer set is not less than six protective studs on the basis of the netbook: four on the case, and two on the battery, so you can remove the Aspire One using stability without problems, too. On the inside of the battery compartment to take its place a SIM card slot, although this model hasn't integrated 3G modem. The noise andheating, which are normally concentrated with the latest on the floor, some on the left side of the netbook. The hardware equipment is classic, this netbook news doesn't show in particular compared to the previous models. Like all products in this series, it offers the opportunity for a proper display high-definition video files, up to 720G, allowing a bit of multimedia, and of course the ability to surf the Internet, write documents, or take part in a video conference via Skype.Windows XP pre-installed to react to results and works without problems, mainly because of the hard drive, good writing and reading speed shows. Acer Aspire One 531 has everything it needs to avoid being deformed, in which the contenders: The excellent screen, the elegant design, the comfort and operating the keyboard and touchpad and the battery life approximately 7 hours, thanks to the battery 6cells . It is a pity that these special features and keep them at a lower price than the saleCompetitors, Acer stint on the surface to see in our opinion, a little skinny, and on the device accessories that the lack of a protection for the netbook and a soft cloth to his brilliant screen clean.
Acer Aspire One AOA150-1126 8.9-Inch Netbook - White Review

Awesome little workhorse of a netbook and still going strong after 15 months of daily use. The light weight and small size is great for taking it everywhere I go. When I need more display room for my work, it’s a snap to connect the Aspire One to a large size monitor using the VGA port. Quiet fan and cool running, long lasting battery. Keep the temp files and reg clean and it will continue to run as fast as the first day it booted up. The price has dropped and I’ll be buying more Aspire Ones for my home network.

Acer Aspire One AO751h-1192 11.6-Inch Blue Netbook - 7 Hour Battery Life Review

I was skeptical at purchasing an Acer Netbook because I have always purchased Dell, HP, IBM or Compaq in the past and did not know if the Acer Netbook could compare. Let me tell you, it does not compare. It far exceeds all these other brands and out performs them. It is like apples and oranges. The Acer Aspire is in another league. A very good looking, comfortable to carry and use, and quick as lightning. I purchased it for my wife because of price and I already had a Dell Mini 10. Well let me tell you I have purchased me one also and the Mini 10 is for sale.
