Toshiba Mini NB205-N311/W 10.1-Inch Frost White Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life
Toshiba Mini NB205-N311/W 10.1-Inch Frost White Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life Review

I hardly have any complaints about this netbook!
I’ll start off first with my opinions on what could be better.
1. The keyboard is kinda cramped, especially if you do a lot of typing. But that’s an inherent disadvantage to netbooks in general, so it really should be dismissed.
2. When typing, sometimes my palm messes with the touchpad. Not a big problem, especially since a key combo can turn the pad off.
3. Because of the small screen, text is small. You better have decent eyesight. Text can be enlarged, but with little screen realestate, not much will fit on the screen.
4. I wish my this netbook had bluetooth built in. It was my understanding that it did. If I had bluetooth, I could wirelessly tether my internet capable smartphone and have mobile internet for my netbook. However this is easily fixable with a usb bluetooth adapter, and they’re getting smaller all the time.
5. There seems to be some small glitches with the wifi hardware in this netbook. I seem to need to reset the connection more often than expected. Not a big problem if you know how to do it.
6. The lack of a cd drive sucks, but that’s a netbook trait, so you can’t really count that. However, if you’re computer savvy enough, and you have a desktop and you’re own network, then you can wirelessly share your desktops drives and use them on the netbook as if they were attached physically. It’s a little slow to use a drive this way, because network speeds are generally slower than a drives read/write speed, but it gets the job done for installing software or burning discs. you might have problems watching dvd movies this way, because of the bandwidth required.
Now for what I like about this thing.
1. Great battery life, it’ll last all day for me with average usage. the battery on this model is bigger than standard, so it sticks out the back some. But it doesn’t matter. It still fits in a netbook neoprene sleeve if you stretch the matierial some. And the battery makes carrying the netbook by itself a little easier, in my opinion.
2. This thing runs fast! winXP is still my prefered windows OS. It runs great on this hardware. I never get any crashes, hangups, or lag times, and I do quite a bit on this thing being a nerd and all…
3. This thing gets great reception for wireless signals.
4. comes with a webcam built in, works nicely.
5. this thing is compact! I can easily take it everywhere. I’m typing while on the pot at this very moment!
So overall, I love this thing. It’s a great buy for a great price. I recommend it to anyone considering a netbook.
If you’re tech savvy, then you’ll find this netbook can do anything a standard laptop or desktop can.

| Review by Jonathan Roylance (SALT LAKE CITY, UT USA) 2010-07-23 First, the battery life was impressive. I never got 9.75 hours out of it, but still more than 7, for sure. And I was accustomed to using Home and End keys, b... | |
