Can’t say enough good things about this neat little computer. Small, stylish, light, functional, easy to use and easy to upgrade. Great battery capacity. Well engineered! This one had Win XP installed and it is still heads above the newer versions of Windows (We all know that Vista stinks and, yes, I have tried Win 7). Why Microsoft can’t just leave well enough alone is totally beyond me.
Upgraded to 2GB of memory and a new 250GB 7200RPM hard disc and this little guy is now FAST. Added a new USB ported Lite-on DVD burner and it can do anything (well, almost). Fine tuned the Windows display characteristics and there is nothing difficult about using the smaller screen.
For those who complain about the built-in mouse pad performance etc., if you will bother to read the user’s manual (Yes it is there on the hard disc), it will walk you through fine tuning such problems. This is the greatest user manual I have ever seen (or imagined) for any computer.
I have been a devoted user of HP laptops for years and been through 2 of them, but now that I have had this experience with Toshiba, I think it’s time to switch.
Final thought; I started the quest for a netbook while hungering for one of the newer ebook readers on the market (I am a voracious reader). The prices on these things was blowing me down for a small screen size and it occurred to me one day that a netbook was still small (though, not quite as small as the ebook readers), and for the price (or less in some cases), could do just as well (with a larger screen) and also be a computer with further word processing capabilities. With MS Word, almost any ebook format can be converted and read as a document. Well, It works! While not quite as small as an ebook reader, this little guy is keeping me quite content. With fine tuning of MS Word, it is like using a reader with a larger screen and fonts and font sizes are customizable and book storage is tremendous. Also, you can go to the ‘Project Gutenberg’ web site (and others) and download free classics all day long! Think about it!
